The painting entitled Mackies Corner, Sunderland by Daniel Marshall. The painting shows a night-time view of Fawcett Street in Sunderland which is dominated by Mackies department store on the corner. The lighted windows of the store show the extent of the building. This large and popular store was completed in 1850, and was designed by GA Middlemiss.
