Image Ref: TWE1154a

Mrs Charles Hunter was the formal married name of the London society hostess Mary Hunter (1856-1933). She was friendly with several important artists. This fine portrait is sculpted in the informal and naturalistic style for which Prince Paul Troubetzkoy was known. It may have been produced in about 1908, when Troubetzkoy had a London studio for a time. He was a very successful sculptor who worked in Italy, Russia, Paris and America. He was a member of the Russian nobility.
