Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums HEADING_TITLE

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums is one of England's largest museums services. It manages art collections on behalf of the councils of Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, South Tyneside and North Tyneside and serves communities across the north east of England.

We have fine art collections of such quality, breath and significance, that they are 'Designated' by Government as being of national importance. The important fine art collection of oil paintings, watercolours and drawings, prints, and sculpture, ranges from the 15th century to the present day. It is particularly strong in British paintings from 1800 to 1950, and includes work by Burne-Jones, Holman Hunt, and Stanley Spencer. There is also an important collection of 16th and 17th century Dutch and Flemish works, and Continental paintings include masterpieces by Tintoretto and Gauguin. The watercolours are of international significance, and the extensive collection includes work by Thomas Bewick and related material.

The collection numbers many hundreds of historical paintings. Now for the first time through Printree's exclusive prints-on-demand shop we have made it possible for you to buy any one of these historic paintings as a superb quality fine art giclee print at the size and finish of your choice and even have a framed art print - all on line and delivered direct to your door.
