Watercolour panting entitled Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne; by artist Byron Eric Dawson; drawn c1945 -1948 (drawing, ink and watercolour on paper). The view shows a tram passing in front of St Thomas Church at the Haymarket, Newcastle. The church was designed by local architect John Dobson, and was completed in 1830. Houses to the left of the church were later demolished to make way for Newcastle Civic Centre. The slightly angular style is characteristic of Dawson's work. This view is one of many street scenes of Newcastle that he painted in the later part of his career. Buy this as a framed art print, canvas art print or art poster.
